Afternoon all,
On behalf of all those who played on Saturday, a massive thanks to all those who came to support, especially Hubert Doggart and the other veterans of the 1961 team. We only hope we could have given you all a bit more to cheer.
Despite the herculanean efforts of those on the pitch, the passionate encouragement of those off it, and the Twitter well wishes of former Tottenham and Egypt striker Mido, OWFC were unable to bring down Arthurian League goliaths Old Carthusians in Saturday's final. While the 4-0 scoreline was harsh, only the dementedly partisan could claim they didn't deserve the trophy.
Special thanks to OWFC chairman John Hornby, for throwing open the White Swan to us afterwards and plying us all with enough food and drink to forget there'd even been a football game...
