Old Wykehamist Football Club

Match Report

Match Report - 12 Sep 2015, Old Wykehamist Football Club 1st XI lost to Old Haileybury I

One of the toughest losses in the last few years for the Old Wyks 1s as a well-earnt 1-0 lead with 3 minutes left dropped to a 2-1 defeat as the whistle blew. It is worth mentioning that despite this and the potentially dubious decisions leading to the demise, the team handled the situation with respect and sportsmanship, as you would hope.

While MoM (an executive decision...) goes to Tom Bouch, who put in an immaculate and strong CB performance alongside the ever-dominant Mercer and Fuller, a special mention should go to d├ębutante GoalKeeper Oliver Tobin (A, '09) who pulled off a string of fine saves.

Despite the painful defeat, this was a first match of the season with plenty of positives. First of all, we dominated possession and, at times, played quick passing football creating numerous chances. Second of all, out team spirit and commitment where there to be seen. Finally, we unearthed some new talent in the aforementioned Tobin together with Theo Suh (A, '09) and Kapil Shah (A, '07), who unfortunately tweaked a hamstring early on.

Shooting practice on Tuesday... Even Taro "I just always bag" Kiley.
