4th Nov: 1 win and 1 defeat for the O-Dubs

04 Nov 2017

King’s Scholars 0-3 OWFC 2s

The 2s won the first leg of their Junior League Cup tie with OKS, as the opposition required some Dubs players to turn out for them, being short of numbers. Nick “Kiko” Opfermann scored a sweet volley, while John Wilson scored “one of most naizeby free-kicks I’ve ever seen” (Mercer). Captain Cheets scored too, and the rude health of the 2s team is a good sign as points are needed in the league.

OWFC 1s 0-4 Foresters

The Dubs 1s lost a closer game than the scoreline suggests against Prem stalwarts Foresters. Going 1-0 down to a soft headed corner in the first half, the Dubs created more over the course of the first 60 minutes, and were confident of getting something out of the game.

However, Foresters’ 3 at the back and diamond in the middle worked very well for them, and restricted the Dubs to few clear cut chances. Another soft set piece was the Dubs undoing, and the game then ran away from them at 2-0 after 65 mins. Two late goals made for a more chastening experience than was on the cards.

Two Collegemen were welcomed back into the fold in Pete Fuller and Nick Murray, with the young crop of Ollie Mitchell, Mike Hodnett and Hugo Sever growing comfortably into the team with poise.

Carthusians away on the menu next.
